“This article deals with the philosophical anthropology of Martin Buber in order to explore the importance of the dialogical way of thinking for the development of a sexual ethics. A the center of Martin Buber's philosophical anthropology is the idea that the human being is intrinsically relational, so that the I-Thou encounter becomes truly foundational in the process of understanding human existence. After all, it is in and through the experience of Encounter that we truly become what we are: persons. Hence the goal of this article: to demonstrate that human sexuality receives its meaning from the I-Thou relationship and is oriented towards an authentic communion of the persons. Moreover, we also intend to present Sexual Education as something much beyond mere instruction about biological facts and, thus, as something to be centered upon an understanding of inter-personal love. Indeed, it is only in and through love that the human being truly becomes self, whereby at the center of the process remain values like dialogue and fidelity, love and responsibility”.
Keywords: Encounter, I‑Thou, Love, Martin Buber, Philosophical Anthropology, Sexual Ethics, Values.
